Short answer: Make parts spread heat! Long answer: One of the problems one can have, with the new heating system, is that heat doesn't disapate (easily) between parts. This can be troublesome, and even with a heater or cooler, it can be difficult to maintain consistent temperatures around a drone. Even if the front part of the drone is overheating, should you activate the cooler, you may end up freezing other parts. My solution is a radiator part. The radiator does not create or destroy heat, but instead transfers it around parts. Parts near a radiator will attempt to change to the temperature of the radiator, while the radiator will attempt to change to the temperature of the surrounding parts. This will cause the temperature differences to quickly even out over a large drone.3 points

Howdy! i did post this on twitter so yeah, you might see it there.... but i decided id post it here too As you can see here, there are multiple things wrong. For one, the port has a river running through it. Is this normal, or a generation bug? For two, my starters have genes that would normally not appear on starters. The male has platypus beak, and water body, while the female has gills, and double webbed paws. NORMAL?? also, the color of the water. Its been a joke between me and my friend that i hate purple water, but like, why is it purple? is that a bug too??3 points

Good suggestion I'm not yet happy with how you control the heat/cold on your drone, especially the thermometer. I think your radiator is a good suggestion which would work fine exactly as you describe. This is something we have to address eventually and your suggestion is a good one. Will keep it in mind when the time comes. Thank you very much!3 points

Upvoted, great suggestion I also want to have a "real" minimap which shows the actual planet structure (which is technically possible). Maybe we could pack all these things and some more into a update-pack. Not yet sure how to implement Fog or War. Maybe you would really have to "see" it with camera parts, maybe it's enough if your "satellites" see it (and not the camera).3 points

Short answer: add filter gates! Long answer: a filter gate is a timing device, which will require its input to be active for a period of time before activating its output. It’s output shuts off as soon as it’s input does, however. This filter gate is just one of those things I would just really like to use, and along with the buffer gate, could help with timing devices.2 points

@Mr_MT1111 The early access will be $19.99. And - 10% during launch week. Owners of our first game Niche will get another -10% discount ^^2 points

Maybe a radar part? For example, if you set it to 360º its radio of action would be smaller but if it was like 30º it would have a way better range.2 points

That is actually a good question. I think you need to have a higher stat in whatever sense you want to hide from or be completly out of range from the predator . Ex: bearyena has two sight you have three camouflage so you should be save (provided nothing else gives you away) or you have zero camouflage but are like three or four tiles away and you should be safe too....in theory XD I am pretty sure it works that way with apes too but as they have stats of six you need quite a bit of stealth and stuff. I was able to hide from bearyenas on deadly hill with creatures who had moss brown fur because it boosted their camouflage quite a bit2 points

Sounds useful. Maybe someday we have to spent a certain amount of time to add all these great ideas for logic parts. This filter sounds really useful for the sumo, makes me getting new ideas Keep posting all these ideas❤️2 points

@Finnwinter Well, you never know One of my favorites is "Anala" and there is also Isis (though that is an egyptian godness too, so it's fine ;))2 points

I know a few ways to use a 555. But today i would just use a small uC. But you are right, i'm pretty sure there are much more options to use this little timer than the things i used it for But to get back to a more plausible reality we just can hope for the devs to implement a few basic timer-blocks. Edit: Typo...2 points

Factoring time into some timer-gates would be a nice addition! Something like a NE555 On delay, off delay, with and without retrigger would be a nice start...2 points

I hope that we are going to have such a part in the game sooner or later, but also on the enemies side to disable shields and so on. We thought about it many times, but it will be something to implement somewhen in the future after several other things. (Unless it gets really high votes XD )2 points

And so I present several types of guidance systems for Nimbatus sumo drones! Also see my other guide for information about specific varieties of drone. Simple guidance systems Simple guidance systems are employed in more complicated designs, but can be perfectly practical on their own. If you're new to sumo drone design, start here. Unguided The unguided system is easily explained. The drone simply uses a button to activate all it's thrusters to go forward. Naturally, this is only seen on rammers, and is very rarely successful. Most modern drones are easily capable of compensating for this sort of system. A simple unguided drone, as it would be seen on a rammer. Directional guidance for steering Simple directional guidance uses a directional sensor, connected to the rotational thrusters of a craft. It usually suffices most drones, and can be used both offensively and defensively. A simple directional guidance system allows the drone to turn to find the center of the arena. It is less than idea for center seeker drones, and is much more at home in rammer or pusher drones. Distance guidance for steering Simple distance guidance uses distance sensors to sense opposing craft, and turn towards them. It was very common during the Nimbatus demo, but has fallen out of favor to much simpler directional sensor systems, once they were available. They are also often prone to issues when used versus multi-drone classes, where mini drones could give false directions on the direction sensors. Directional guidance for detection Despite being used for directional guidance, directional sensors can also perform the role of a distance sensor. The directional sensor can be set up in a way that it has a very large tolerance range, and that it outputs for only a small fraction of it's area. This can then be used to determine whether a target is in a key position, such as whether a sumo enemy is in front of them. This can be advantageous for many reasons. Directional guidance for detection also lacks any of the downfalls of distance guidance, and cannot be confused by multi-drone setups. Distance guidance for detection Distance sensors are often employed on pusher drones to dictate whether a target is in front of it, and whether it should trigger it's thrusters to ram it. This system is mostly foolproof, but has some key issues. The distance sensor can be triggered by mini-drones if the opponent is a multi-drone, and also has a very limited field of view, in a straight line only. As such, it has fallen out of favor to much more reliable directional guidance systems. Specialist Guidance Systems Micha-guidance Micha-guidance uses two directional sensors on each axis of the drone. The direction of the axis will dictate the direction to the drones target. Since it is omnidirectional, it works well for center seeker drones and spinners. Especially spinners, which rely on constantly changing direction, where conventional directional guidance systems would simply fail. It is named after Nimbatus developer Micha, who had used the guidance system in one of his own sumo drone challengers. A simple Micha-guidance center seeker drone. It can very happily move in any direction towards it's target, regardless of orientation. Glider guidance Glider guidance uses the arena wall to help it skim along the arena edge. It uses a directional sensor to keep itself pointed towards the center, and a direction sensor to detect the arena edge, to then boost it away from it. A simple glider guidance system at work. Think I forgot something? Want to contribute? Share your drone designs and guidance systems below!1 point

It would be nice to have like 200% or 300% to build higher satellites, also I have too much air traffic xD.1 point

So I was watching a video on YouTube that showcased the grenade launchers in the closed alpha. The person I was watching commented about how difficult it was to hit airborne targets with the grenade launchers. I was looking at how the grenades exploded midair and thought to myself “hey, flak guns would be pretty cool.” Flak. A fast firing weapon with low accuracy shots that explode when they get near a target. Low overall damage, high splash radius. Do nothing against terrain or grounded enemies (AA guns, hives, snake eggs, etc) because they are unable to blow up. Upgrade tree options could include things like: Explosion radius; how close they need to be to an enemy to explode and so on.1 point

Playing on multiple computers works fine as Steam keeps the gamefiles in sync. But the time that is shown ingame when selecting one of the three slots starts from zero on every individual machine. Please fix this so players don't get confused if they i.e. play on a PC and a laptop1 point

So as of now the names are randomly generated by the game The Males use these syllables: Van, Ro, Duk, Kir, Ta, Nu, and Ku The Females use these syllables: Ra, Is, Re, Si, La, Ko, Me, and Ana So I have had at times 2 Vankirs, or Duktas etc. What if we added a few more syllables to make that less common. Male Syllables: Ti, Tu, To, and Mu examples: Kirmu, Rotu ,Vantu ,Tito ,Tomu, Tunu, and Vannuto Female Syllables: Di, Ki, and Le examples: Anale, Anaki, Kiana, Diana, Dilame, Meanaki, Merale, Ledile, Dikile1 point

Let's say an imaginary predator P has 4 hearing. Creature C has to +2 sneaking. Does that mean if C is two tiles away from P, that she won't be heard? Or will she always be heard because her +2 isn't enough? Does this stack with camouflage? Do bearyenas and the great apes work differently? So many questions and no answers!1 point

Short answer: Add ping thingies on the minimap Long answer: So, I was playing around with Nimbatus when I had this quick idea for an idea/addition part. What this part does, is that it adds a node to the minimap, when given the instruction to. The node will show it's location on the minimap, and can also be the target of directional sensors. But! It will also have some neat tricks up it's sleeve! The node can have it's icon changed in the editor, to help relay specific information, such as whether the node represents a certain type of drone, or it's situation. The node can also have it's color changed (like LEDs), which will be reflected on the minimap. The node can also be "pinged", where it will show an outline of the node expand over the minimap. This can be used to show a specific alert from the node. This will be useful for players using autonomous multidrone systems, especially now with the printer, so they can easily see the status of their drones without having to complicate things with cameras.1 point

So the drone editor has this thing called toggle tag bindings, what do they do? I've tried assigning tags to stuff at random but I can;t figure out what tags are, how they work, or anything else.1 point

I'm lame n don't really care much about how a gene looks. I just go for useful stuff megalocerous horns, runner leg, nimble finger, bird beak, good eyes1 point

555 curcuitry? So now we can do everything a 555 can? m8, that’s a lot of stuff1 point

Hello, Recently, I'll find myself unable to back out from the galaxy menu to the save menu; the "back" button doesn't work. If I force close the game when this happens, that game session time is recorded, but any progress I've made is gone.1 point

Maybe this could be a function of the core rather than placing parts on the planet. Think of the snake or meteors that could destroy the locator parts. Add this feature to the core (or a special part) that adds a blip in the radar screen wherever the core / part is when a button or tag is activated. Different colours with different buttons / tags should help to differentiate between the three resources, quest location and enemies. This could also bring up the possibility of having a permanent marker for later visits to the planet. Edit: Another way to solve this would be to enhance the mini map to a level where it will show the visited parts like a real picture of the planet. Like clearing the fog of war in many other games.1 point

A T Flip Flop part would be nice, a T Flip Flop toggles between two outputs when the input gets pulsed https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flip-flop_(electronics)#T_flip-flop1 point

The crop duster by @Kabbyyss probably beat you by a week or so, @MLGTASTIC, but it wasn't nearly so large or complex. That dive-and-leap behavior is something I spent hours and hours and hours trying to eliminate. It's the natural state of all my automated drones, and I always needed lots of control thrust and lots of logic to control it. That's pretty good control for a first iteration.1 point
